There are several genes responsible for the hair loss.

  • Eyes- The OSH have almond eyes where the Peterbalds are considered to have near almond eyes.
  • Size- The average Peterbald is smaller than your average OSH.

Nude, bald

What's the difference between OSH and Peterbalds? Besides the baldness.

If they are homozygous for the dominant hair losing gene, they are considered rubber band bald, wet bald, ultra bald, or sticky bald. They will have a maximum of 2 whiskers. These guys are typically not as hardy.

If they are heterozygous for the hair losing gene, than they can be dusty, or even be born with full coats and undress to their birthday suit.

Chamois coat

Also known as flock which is 90% hairless. The hairs are almost not visible and are considered 1-2 mm in length.

Velour coat

Is considered 70% hairless

Brush coat

Also known as wire coat, this coat has quite the unique texture to it.

These guys do not have the hair losing gene, but they are still Peterbalds in OSH clothing.
